Jazz & Ballet Instructor
Austin began dancing at the age of eight in Orange County, CA. After moving to NKY at the age of 11, she continued her training in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, acro, hip hop, tap, and lyrical, where her instructors emphasized and instilled in her, a love for the importance of a strict and strong technical foundation. Throughout her teenage years she participated in intensive training programs with American Ballet Theatre and Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. Under the guidance of many known and respected artists and instructors, Austin was able to expand her repertoire further while gaining an even more in-depth knowledge of the vital foundations of many genres of dance.
As a competitive dancer, Austin claimed regional and national titles as a soloist, including National Teen Miss DEA. During high school, she was chosen for featured dance roles in productions with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and Kings Island. Immediately after high school, Austin began working as a professional dancer for Royal Caribbean International. For seven years she traveled around Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean performing for international audiences. Austin was fortunate enough to be a featured soloist in many of Royal Caribbean International’s shows; highlighting her versatility as a dancer in Vegas-style and ballroom shows, broadway revues, and aerial silks. Those featured roles broadened Austin’s horizons, allowing her to find her own unique style and artistry.
After finishing her time with Royal Caribbean, she began coaching and choreographing for figure skaters and ice dancers where she trained two international teams. This pushes Austin to break out of her comfort zone and really expand her knowledge of body awareness and creative movement. As an instructor, Austin strives to teach the necessity of a strong, and thorough, technical foundation while encouraging each dancer and young artist to discover, and become confident with their own individual style. Austin is so grateful to the Rapture dance family for welcoming her into such a passionate and positive environment!
